Scholarship Requirements for Private Students in the
United States
Dear Private Student:
Per Ministerial decree #178/87 and #48/89, private
students may apply for
A. Pre-requisites for Scholarship
1. Must
have Kuwaiti citizenship
2. Student
must not be an employee of the Kuwaiti Government.
3. Graduate
of
4. Enrolled
full time in a program and university approved by the Ministry/Cultural
Division
5. English
Proficiency Requirement:

International TOEFL of 500 (173 computer based test) or English 101 and English 102 (English
102 must be earned at a 4-year
institution approved by the Cultural Division)
6. Student’s
major must be in the scholarship plan.
7. Completion
of 30 semester or 45 quarter units in major or related areas. All
credits must be earned at an approved
8. A 2.5 or higher (4-point scale)
cumulative GPA for all coursework completed.
Coursework must reflect student’s major.
9. 12
credits completed (earned towards the degree) with a minimum of 2.0 GPA in
most recent term of study.
10. Study
or degree plan must be submitted. The
courses completed must reflect the courses outlined in the study plan. The student will not be considered for scholarship
if these courses are not included in the study/degree plan.

are not open to students attending restricted schools even if enrollment in the
restricted school was before the date of restriction.
All students who were admitted into the scholarship program through the Cultural Division are not allowed to change their majors. They must adhere to the major for which they were recommended for scholarship.
B. Checklist of Documents
Required
Students
must submit the following required documents to be considered for scholarship:

transcripts from all universities and/or colleges attended must be mailed
directly from the institution to the Cultural Division.
3. Letter
from the approved 4-year program indicating acceptance, term of enrollment and
major field of study.
4. Official transcripts from all schools attended.
5. Official transfer evaluation of credits earned at other schools, if applicable. 6. Study Plan.
7. Official TOEFL score report.
8. Proof
of initial enrollment in the

first 4 pages of the passport and I-94 form.
10. Four (4)
passport size photographs.
11. Completion
of the scholarship request form.
12. Students
not under supervision of the
Cultural Division must provide:

Upon receipt of all the above documents, the
scholarship request will be reviewed by the Academic Committee of the Cultural
Division and forwarded to the Ministry for final consideration for scholarship.
