Scholarship
Requirements for Private Students in the USA Please choose
your topic from the following listing, or you can go back to the Rules
and Regulations main page. Per Ministerial decree #178/87 and #48/89,
private students may apply for Kuwait government scholarship in majors designated
by the Ministry of Higher Education provided they meet the requirements listed

| Pre-requisites
for Scholarship | |  | - Must have Kuwaiti
citizenship.
- Graduate of Kuwait high school or equivalent.
- Student
must not be an employee of the Kuwaiti Government.
- May not
hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent.
- Enrolled full time
in a program and university approved by the Ministry/Cultural Division.
- Pursuing
a major that is on the Ministry's scholarship list, or a major that has been canceled
for less than two years.
- Interruption of studies prior to
application for scholarship must not exceed one academic year.
- Study
or degree plan must be submitted for entire period of study. The courses completed
must reflect the courses outlined in the study plan and must include courses required
for the freshman year (1st year) for the scholarship major as prescribed by the
university.
- Students are not allowed to change their majors.
- Private
students who are awarded MOHE scholarship are not eligible for scholarship extensions.
- Inclusion
in the scholarship plan will take place in the months of September and January,
depending on the availability for seats with priority given to students with the
highest scores.
- Students must meet the following requirements:
- Must
obtain the required English Proficiency score of:
- International
TOEFL of 500 (173 computer based test) or English 101 and English
102 (English 102 must be earned at a 4-year institution approved by the Cultural
Division)
- Completion of 30 semester or 45 quarter units in
major or related areas as outlined in the study plan. All credits must be earned
at an approved U.S. school with a 2.5 or higher (4-point scale) cumulative GPA;
2.0 GPA and full-time (12 credits) in most recent term of study.
- One-half
of these credits (15 semester/22 quarter units) must earned at the university
approved for the student's major; the remaining credits may be earned at a two
year college approved by the Ministry/Cultural Division.
- The
credits completed must be in the major field of study being pursued.

must submit the following required documents to be considered for scholarship:- Kuwait
high school transcript. Foreign high school transcript must be approved by the
Ministry of Education, Department of Equivalency and Examination.
- Official
transcripts from all universities and/or colleges attended must be mailed directly
from the institution to the Cultural Division.
- Letter from
the approved 4-year program indicating acceptance, term of enrollment and major
field of study.
- Official transcripts from all schools attended.
- Official
transfer evaluation of credits earned at other schools, if applicable.
- Study
Plan.
- Official TOEFL score report.
- Proof
of initial enrollment in the U.S. (copy of first I-20 or letter from first school
attended indicating first term of enrollment.)
- Copy of first
4 pages of the passport and I-94 form.
- Four (4) passport
size photographs.
- Completion of the scholarship request form.
- Students
not under supervision of the Cultural Division must provide:

Name of Guardian.
- Kuwait Address and Telephone Number.
- Kuwait
Nationality Certificate.
Upon receipt of all the
above documents, the scholarship request will be reviewed by the Academic Committee
of the Cultural Division and forwarded to the Ministry for final consideration
for scholarship. |
