Dr. Al-Adwani earned his B.S degree in Chemical Engineering from Kuwait University (KU) in 1989.  He worked there as a lab engineer then received a scholarship from KU and joined Texas A&M University where he earned his MS and PhD degrees in 1998.  He rejoined KU as an Assistant Professor that year. In 2004, he was appointed as a visiting Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.  In 2005 Dr. Al-Adwani was promoted to Associate Professor of Chemical Engineering at KU.
At KU, Dr. Al-Adwani taught both graduate and undergraduate courses, supervised and co-supervised seven master degree students, and had over 27 scientific papers and conference presentations.  He obtained funding for six research projects from KU.   He also refereed many articles, projects, and presentations for different national and international entities.  Dr. Al-Adwani served as a chair and a member in many committees in departmental, college, and university level including the scholarships, academic affair, appointments, graduate, student affairs, accreditation, and promotions committees. He also co-directed KU Environmental Sciences Joint Master Degree Program and carried out extensive training and consultations for Kuwait Oil Company, Kuwait National Petroleum Company, Petrochemical Industries Company and the Council Of Ministers.
