URGENT IMMIGRATION NOTICE
January 25, 2005
Dear Scholars:
Welcome to the 2nd term of the 2004-2005 Academic Year.
This is to remind of the importance of following U.S. Immigration
Regulations since failure to do so may
result in your forced departure from
the U.S. This is of particular concern since there have been a
number of recent cases where
students were forced to leave the United States
because of violation of BCIS regulations. The following are
the most common violations that have
forced students to depart the United States:
- Failure to
maintain
full-time enrollment. Fulltime enrollment is defined
as 12 semester/quarter
credits per academic term. Students who drop below the twelve
credits must have the written
permission of the Designated School
Official (DSO) within the International Student Office. The permission must be received prior to
dropping courses and falling below the required 12 credits.
- Students who are
out-of-status due to dismissal from their colleges or universities must depart the U.S. within the time specified
by their universities. Students
must check with the International Office of their colleges or universities on
the final date they are
required to depart the U.S.
A comprehensive report on BCIS
rules and regulations are
posted on our website, www.kuwaitculture.com
under the student section. It is very
important that you are familiar with the rules since this is U.S. Law over
which this office has no jurisdiction.
With my best
wishes for a successful term.
Sincerely,
Merza
